Today is another sea day and I was up for the day at 6:30 am.
Sea Day Morning
After getting ready I went to the diamond lounge for coffee and to type up notes. What was disappointing was that they only had the machine with specialty coffees or decaf. No regular coffee or an americano option in the machine.
Typed up my notes and met my sisters on 15. We went to breakfast at 8 am in the main dining room. I started with a bloody mary (spicy!).
The croissant was flaky and delicious.
For the main course I went with the vegetable bowl with a side of bacon.
It was perfect!
We had excellent service and great breakfast. Then we parted ways and I went to get ready for the pool. I was surprised how many chairs were saved before 9:30. Much worse than yesterday. I found one of the chairs/footrest combos in the solarium by the pool there.
I chatted with my neighbors a bit who are from Florida (an hour away). It was in the sun but comfy. I did enjoy the pool for a bit and chatted with two very nice ladies. Surprised to see a bunch of seaweed floating so far out to sea.
I left shortly after 11:30 am as it as very hot and I needed to get ready for our lunch reservation.
Sea Day Afternoon
Before lunch met M on 15. We met T at Sabor and were seated at a booth. We all ordered margaritas.
I tried the jalapeno cucumber which I enjoyed this round.
The second one was too spicy for my taste.
The guacamole wasn’t made tableside but it was very good.
We also had queso fundido which wasn’t as good.
I ordered barbacoa tacos for my entrée with sides of rice and beans.
The girls ordered the steak cut fajita style. It was a shared dessert platter and we all enjoyed it.
Then it was nap time after those tasty, delicious drinks. Ross was our server and as we left we changed our night 7 dining from Samba Grill to Sabor and asked for Ross.
Sea Day Evening
We had five pm dinner reservations at Izumi Hibachi. T was too full from lunch and canceled her seat. When M and I arrived there was quite a line and I later found out it was primarily for sushi; we weren’t close enough to hear that hibachi was on the right.
Anyway, we got seated and there ended up being nine of us at the table. We ordered after a menu explanation.
M and I passed on the edamame but did have the salad.
Then our chef came out and started on the fried rice.
Then he cooked the vegetables. I liked them more than what I had on Oasis but couldn’t eat it all (M and I were both not very hungry due to our big lunch).
My meat selection was filet mignon and lobster.
Even though I ordered medium it was overcooked as was the lobster.
Too bad they do that. I probably will skip this venue next time.
For dessert I went with the green tea ice cream while M had the warm chocolate cake which she enjoyed.
Towards the end of our meal the captain came over the speakers and said our Wednesday stop at Curacao was cancelled due to a tropical storm (projected to be a hurricane) heading directly there. Instead we will spend Wednesday at sea then two days at Labadee. We will leave Aruba 3 hours earlier (8 pm) to get to Labadee on time Thursday. Then we don’t stay overnight at Labadee but go out to sea at 5 pm and return the next morning.
I sent off a quick email to the hotel we were booked for an all inclusive cancelling and asking for refund.
Ice Show
After dessert, we rushed off to Studio B for the ice show. We found seats in the reserved section after they opened them up 10 or so minutes before the show.
It was a fun show as always.
After the show, I went to the casino and got my $6 free play. I quickly spent that and then put $20 in the machine. When I had that up to $39.50, I cashed out, LOL.
Then met my sisters on 15 where I bought M and me cans of soda with my remaining diamond drinks. T used a half off coupon on her card.
It was off to the cabin then where I enjoyed my soda and got ready for bed.
The laundry special was offered today. Click the image before for the full PDF of today’s cruise compass.
