It’s the second sea day on this Carnival Vista sailing. I didn’t sleep well for some reason and was up too early.
Another Morning at Sea
Since the Java Cafe didn’t open for two more hours I ordered room service.
It came quickly and I learned room service coffee is not the same as in the dining room.
It got me up and moving though and I went to Java Cafe at 7 am. I drank my coffee outside while enjoying the sea view. One of the things I really like about this ship class is the comfortable outdoor seating.
At 8:30 I reserved a table and headed to the Horizon dining room. Today I ordered my complimentary brunch beverage (platinum VIFP benefit).
It was pretty good but I was surprised to get a bill for $.30.
C’mon Carnival a classic brunch drink should be covered!
For entrée, I picked the steak and eggs.
The steak made up for the disappointing prime rib the night before. The meal was good.
I went to the 10 am morning show in the liquid lounge. The cruise director, Kendall Fire, sure has a lot of energy and I found it entertaining. I sat by two of my tablemates who are very nice.
Then it was off to the IMAX theater for the movie Free Guy. There were a lot of empty seats and I think maybe 30 people in there. Lots of opportunity to social distance. They were not selling popcorn because of the lack of people but did sell cracker jacks for $1.
Bonus because the movie was even better than I expected.
Afternoon at Sea
After leaving the theater I went to a late lunch at Guys.
These burgers are so good! Dessert was a piece of strawberry lemonade cake and a chocolate iced cream cone.
Then it was nap time!
After getting ready for the evening, I went to the casino to play my free pay. I managed to end the play with a bank of $75. Haven’t decided if I’m going to play it or cash out.
At Alchemy bar I found my new “bar” friends, Shana and Seneca, and ordered a spicy chipotle pineapple drink.
Not too spicy but not my favorite.
Evening at Sea
Tonight was my first specialty dining experience at Jiji’s. I was seated at a table for two and told I could order one item from each section.
The table of 4 next to me were told 3 items from each section. They did let me order two appetizers when I asked. Either way, we all had too much food. 🙂
I also ordered a Thai ice tea for $4.95.
It was very refreshing.
The server brought an appetizer courtesy of the chef which was potato something.
It was good but I just ate one since I had so much food coming. The soup was very hearty but very tasty.
The Jade Shrimp was delicious and I used the sweet and sour sauce with it.
My entrée of the peppered beef was beautifully presented.
Here’s what it looks like without the tuile.
I ate it over the chicken fried rice which was an enormous bowl for one person.
I didn’t quite finish the beef but ate most of it. It was SOOO good. The chef came by to see how my meal was going which was nice.
For desert, I had the crepes.
It was a perfect way to end the meal and I ate every bite.
I rushed over to the liquid lounge for the show starting at 7:30 where I found open seating at the back of the lower floor which is elevated.
During the show it got a little chilly and I I realized I’d left my jacket at the alchemy bar so had to mosey back over there. I got my jacket AND a night time drink — the deal closer.
Then off to my cabin where I met this guy.
