Someday we’ll be telling our grandchildren (or for us older people great-grandkids) about the lost year of 2020. Celebrations, such as our nation’s independence, are meant to be shared and we just can’t do that this year.
Our local events (parade and fireworks) were cancelled as in lots of places. Instead we watched a televised celebration… at home. Friday my county was put on the state’s watch list which means there could be more reopening rollbacks. Bars that don’t serve food have already been closed again. Nationally, we’ve lost over 130,000 lives (which is estimated to be undercounted) to COVID-19.
Unrelated to the pandemic but another sad happening was hearing that one of my dear friends lost her father this past week. Prayers of comfort to her and her family!
My Week in Review
Last week I promised a picture of my shorter hair and took this snap after our morning walk one day. I’m enjoying the cut as temperatures went up this weekend.
Outings
I only had two outings by car. First was to pick up some more library books. The librarian told me we will soon be able to return books; we have a couple of boxes waiting to go back.
Yesterday I went out to pick up an online restaurant order for lunch. Once a week I need someone to make a meal for me! This week it was a cheeseburger salad with bacon and avocado. Yummy!
We got out on foot six mornings for a walk. I’m now up to 1.2 miles per outing and continuing to add distance each week.
It’s nice to get outside for fresh air and nature. We’re fortunate to have lots of green space like the trees around our condominium.
Shopping
I did some online shopping this week for household items and non-perishable groceries. The only other shopping was with InstaCart which has a backstory.
My Chase travel card is finding ways to reward cardholders since most of us aren’t traveling. One way is to reimburse membership fees and award extra points for using InstaCart. I took advantage of their promotion to order from Aldi’s.
It was a great experience with the exception of an unfortunate substitution. The shopper decided to get me Vegan ice cream when he couldn’t find Keto ice cream. Needless to say, I was credited for that purchase!
This Coming Week
Our monthly HOA meeting is this Wednesday via zoom. I’m not sure I will go but I do want to ask about our roof repair. Saturday, Charger gets his turn at the vet’s office for vaccines and we pick up meals at Dream Dinners. How was your week?
