Today we are in Grand Turk. The three of us had been here once before sailing on the Carnival Elation a few years ago but it was pouring so we see or do anything. This time we’re hoping for a much more enjoyable day.My brother and I went to the dining room for breakfast. My sister prefers the Lido deck and ate up there. We had great service and delicious food.
By the time we got back to our the cabin and changed into our swim wear we only waited a few minutes before the ship was cleared. We walked down the beach to the left (facing the beach) to Jack’s Shack.
When we got there we rented two beach umbrellas for $10 each and beach chairs were no charge. Topher, the resident dog, greeted us and as long as you were willing to pet him he was there.
Some other beach dogs also visited us and took advantage of the shade from our chairs. We went to the bar and bought bottles of water ($2 each) and got the wifi information. If you’re looking for something stronger the bar has it along with some fun specialty drinks.
We all checked email. My sister and I used facetime to connect with other family members. It was fun to show my husband the beach.
The water was calm and the sand was soft and beautiful. We swam several times during our few hours there.
I was getting a little hungry so my sister and I perused the menu.
We decided to split an order of jerk chicken with fries ($12).
It was delicious!
After another hour we headed back towards the ship. I looked for a Christmas ornament at the craft area and the main store by the pier. All they had were round plastic ornaments made in China so no purchase.
My sister and I stopped at the Lido deck once back onboard. I tried the sandwich area for the first time. There is a big variety of breads and sandwich makings so you can get just about anything you want. I decided to go chicken salad on a ciabatta roll followed by pecan pie.
I didn’t write down my sister’s entree but she had this beautiful cupcake with strawberry ice cream.
The ice cream area is another favorite of mine. They have waffle cones, regular cones and dishes with a selection of 4-6 ice creams each day. This is also where you get the bread pudding.
We then cleaned up and had our daily nap. 🙂
Happy hour was in the Crow’s nest where we enjoyed the drink of the day (Golden Margaritas) and Pina Coladas. The appetizers where good
and we enjoyed the music.
There was time to hit the casino before dinner and I was up $15 for the day before heading aft to the dining room.
Our dinner appetizers included garden salad, french onion soup, guaranana soup and chicken corn chowder.
Our entree selections were turkey dinner and a new York strip loin with three cheese linguine.
The turkey was delicious and made up for the turkey dinner I didn’t get at Thanksgiving.
I selected the Pistacho ice cream for dessert while my brother went with the berry snow cap and creme brulee. I was disappointed in the color of the ice cream (artificial green) but not the flavor.
I spent some more time in the casino and added more to my bank before heading to the production show alone. I really enjoyed it and like the seating in the showroom. Afterwards I returned to the room and read while my roomies finished up the movie “Heaven is for Real”.
