All too soon our Disney cruise has come to end and we are going home today. Although I believe the buffet was open all guests were assigned a dining room time and place for breakfast.
Debarkation Morning
Our restaurant was the Royal Palace first seating. We have our usual servers which was nice.
We had pastries and coffee first. From the menu, I started with the muesli.
It was good and I liked the serving size; not too big. My entree was the french toast which was wonderful.
Brioche is the perfect bread for this item. We said goodbye to our wait team and our assigned tag was shortly listed as being able to get off the ship.
We quickly found our luggage and made our way out of the terminal. When we got to the GoPort stand it wasn’t busy and we checked in for the next bus.
Here’s the reason why people shouldn’t book too early a flight home after cruises. There was an accident on the highway which made the trip take at least 30 minutes longer than usual.
You never know when the unexpected like this accident will happen. Some of the people on the bus were concerned about missing their flights. Not us though as we all had later times.
After getting checked in and luggage dropped off, we headed to the USO lounge.
C was able to get us in with her military status and we enjoyed chatting, having snacks and spending time together until they had to leave for their flight.
I went through security a bit later and ended up having lunch at the Cask and Larder.
The pork belly tacos are so good! My nonstop Alaska flight back to San Diego was uneventful.
Final Thoughts
Although I try to avoid short cruises, this Disney trip was a fantastic vacation with family.
The Good
You can’t go wrong with the Disney experience both on land and sea. The service was excellent and branding was spot on. There are plenty of hidden Mickeys around the ship and cabin to find.
The cabin was very well setup with plenty of room for the three of us.
My favorite feature was the split bathroom with one having shower tub combo and sink.
The second one had toilet/sink.
This made it really easy for the three of us to get ready.
Lastly, I really enjoyed the art deco style used throughout the ship. It really gave it an old-time cruising feel.
Could be Better
There were a couple of things I found frustrating with the Disney cruise experience.
First was the inability to get paper copies of anything. There wasn’t a paper daily program including debarkation instructions. I find this frustrating as it made everyone have to use the app to get information. Some older people just don’t use smart phone apps.
The second was the fact that its not possible to prepurchase internet in advance of the cruise. Once I was able to see pricing and options onboard, it’s seriously out of date with what people want in terms of unlimited options.
Future Disney Cruise
So would I do another Disney cruise? A short one like this — probably not. Because this cruise was so short, I never experienced the pools, bars, or activities other than nightly shows. It was a lot of money just to go to Nassau and a private island with Disney characters.
For the right itinerary though I would consider it.
