I love trying new foods to replace or augment items we already eat. Plus, variety is the spice of life! We’ve recently found replacements for two life long favorite foods: ketchup and pizza.
Sun Dried Tomato Ketchup
Ketchup is one of those foods you take for granted. After half of century of using it there are no surprises, right? That theory was turned upside down when I served California Sun Dried Tomato Ketchup made by Traina Foods to my family. We had it with our meatloaf a couple of weeks ago and all three of us (my son was there) really enjoyed the taste compared to “regular” ketchup. It was more complex and didn’t taste nearly as sweet. I felt like we were having ketchup for grown-ups finally!
This ketchup is rich and contains high concentrations of healthy lycopene and is loaded with vitamins A, B and C. Each bottle contains more than four pounds of fresh, sun dried tomatoes. It is gluten free and contains less sugar and less sodium than regular ketchup. You can buy this product at the Traina Foods website.
Meatless Pepperoni Supreme VitaPizza
Pizza is a food weakness for me. It’s hard to go more than a week without getting my pizza fix and even harder to make it low calorie AND tasty at the same time. I tried another brand of low calorie pizza but it tasted very plain and didn’t cure the pizza craving.
Then I read about VitaPizza on Hungry Girl. I’ve tried (and liked) the other products made by Vitalicious so was willing to shell out the money for a multi-pie pack. These pizzas are very tasty with a bit of a kick and only 190 calories for each mini-pizza.
The toppings for this flavor include soy-pepperoni, cheese, red and green bell peppers and mushrooms. I eat them so fast there isn’t even a picture to show you! You can order this flavor or tomato-cheese at the Vitalicious website.
Do you have any new food finds?
Disclosure: I received a sample of the ketchup for review purposes. All opinions expressed are 100% mine.
