I know it’s been a long time since I posted here. I got sidetracked on my weight loss journey and gave it up for a while (okay, okay… it was a year). But I’m back.
A New Diagnosis and Personal Loss
After menopause contributed to my weight woes with a 20 pound gain in a few short months, I knew I had to do something; especially after my doctor diagnosed pre-diabetes. It was going to wait until after our April vacation but something else happened.
My mother passed away unexpectedly. When my dad in 2002 I gained 15 pounds over the next few months as depression left me sitting around like a lump. I decided to get proactive this time and channel my grief into a positive action.
Back to Weight Watchers
For me, Weight Watchers is the best plan for losing weight. When I stay on plan it works. The problem is at some point I want to eat more than I should which results in a gain so I won’t go to a meeting. It’s a vicious cycle but totally self-induced.
Instead of going back to the same meeting and leader, I decided to mix it up and joined an evening meeting during the week. It’s a smaller group with a dynamic leader who sends out emails in-between meetings to keep us motivated.
In 4 weeks, I’ve already lost 7.2 pounds so the change is working.
Stick Around
I’ll be posting 2-3 times a week with progress updates as well as opinion pieces, fitness news and even the occasional recipe. I also want to hear from you. Are you on a weight loss and/or fitness journey? Please share what does and doesn’t work for you.
