It’s our first sea day on Liberty of the Seas and Steve and I are up before 6 am. We headed down to the Cafe Promenade which became our routine the rest of the cruise.
Sea Day Morning
When the specialty coffee opened at 6:30 am, I ordered a latte and we had a pastry (and I had fruit) to keep us satisfied until breakfast.
What is it about cruise ship cinnamon rolls? I can never get enough!
While enjoying that and trying to document my day, the keyboard on my iPad went out. I never could get it working the rest of the trip so what you read for the rest of the recap is what I can recall with the help of pictures. 🙂
We decided to try the main dining room for breakfast shortly after it opened.
I took advantage of my drink package and ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice. I forgot what Steve had (probably eggs benedict) but I ordered one of the daily specials.
It was not what I expected (and definitely not what I’d get in San Diego ordering the same dish) but tasty. The service was slow but it seemed to be our server as others around us had better.
We decided to enjoy the pool today (and every sea day) and told the kids where they could find us.
Thanks to the ship’s photographer, there’s even photos of me.
A2 did join us but after the photo sessions. The bar was open when we got to the pool and the servers started around 11 am.
Sea Day Afternoon
We all left the pool; the “boys” wanted to see about rock climbing and Steve and I went to lunch at Johnny Rockets.
We ordered double rocket burgers (for some reason I didn’t understand it was double meat!), onion rings, fries and chocolate shakes.
Our sides came first (although I don’t know why he added ranch dressing). We also had ketchup.
The shakes were good but unfortunately left us with no appetite for dessert.
We took advantage of the our preloaded coupons for buy one shake get one free.
You can see Steve enjoyed his lunch (so did I).
I’m sure we enjoyed a nap after lunch.
Sea Day Evening
It’s our first formal night so we met up in advance of dinner for photos.
We looked pretty darn good if I say so myself.
Everyone earned a pre-dinner drink afterwards.
Then it off to the main dining room.
The menu tonight was Saffron.
Starters included by scallop gratin.
Smoked chicken salad.
Lobster bisque.
And Shrimp Cocktail.
Entrees included my fish (it was supposed to be barramundi but was corvina).
Roasted duck.
And shrimp ravioli.
Desserts included creme brulee.
Chocolate souffle (not as chocolately as I’d prefer but still good).
And lemon meringue pie.
Steve was dissappointed that it was not a pie but a tart AND the meringue was definitely not high.
The rest of the evening for us was probably cocktails and the feature show “Up in the Air”. It was very good.
The promenade was busy! Others did make it to the comedy show which they enjoyed.
We found someone hanging around in our cabin.
