Today we’re in Labadee, no wait it’s Freeport, no wait we’re at sea! It’s hard to keep up with the itinerary changes. 🙂
Today also marks 28 years of marriage for my husband and me. Happy Anniversary Steve!
Sea Day Morning
I was up at 6:30 am and went to cafe Promenade to have coffee and take notes. This pastry might have also shown up at my table.
The unknown with the schedule is if the Sunday group activities are shifting to today. I canceled the Escape room scheduled at 2 pm for tomorrow since we’ll be in port.
I met K, M, D1 and D2 for breakfast outside the MDR at 8 am. We had a nice time visiting and I started with a Bloody Mary and a fruit plate.
The “entree” was eggs benedict.
It was very good. Most of the breakfast table was interested in going to Junkanoo Beach tomorrow.
Galley Tour
Yesterday one of the ladies organized a discounted group price for those who wanted to take a galley tour with brunch. I signed up. We were offered drinks while getting checked in and waiting to start.
It was scheduled for 11:15 and they split our group into two so it wasn’t too crowded in the galley.
It was very interesting and I learned a lot. They have a trash area with about 5 different tubs for different type of waste (food, paper, cans, glass and china). Then we saw the baking area and the bakers use 800-900 pounds of flour a day!
This was a rotisserie for bread!
Then we walked by the dishwashers. There are three separate ones . One for drinking glasses and stemware, one for plates, bowls, etc. and the third for the cooking pots/skillets. We saw the line was prepared for tonight’s dinner with photos of each dish and where to pick them up.
This shows the waiter should know about allergents for each dish as they’re clearly listed. There’s also information on how many guests for each sitting so they can estimate number of entrees needed.
Then we were seated on the 4th deck dining area and given unlimited champagne or mimosas.
We had this menu for brunch.
I started with the cream of mushroom soup which I didn’t see on any of the four-night menus.
Then I had the strip steak which was cooked perfectly!
Then I topped it off with the Royal chocolate cake which was good.
It was a great time at the table too and I’m glad I went on the tour. Meanwhile our ship’s path was like this to accomodate a second medical evacuation today.
Sea Day Afternoon and Evening
Back to the cabin where I wanted to nap but there was music in the room and I could not turn it off. I called maintenance. It took over an hour for them to come and he was able to fix the knob so it worked. Peace!
By then it was too late to sleep so I showered. Then I discovered the room steward had only left 1 towel. I tried calling for 20 minutes with no answer. D1 came in then to get ready for the evening and I told her the situation and the room steward had come on duty and was able to give her a towel. He said they had a crew drill and he must have gotten distracted by that.
I went on down to the bamboo room while she was getting ready for the evening and had a Saturn with a diamond drink (that’s number two but I’ve had about 5 glasses of alcohol today).
Then it was off to the dining room and another table of ladies to meet and enjoy. We had the Caribbean menu and everyone loved it.
I started with the coconut shrimp.
Yum! Then I had them put the tigers shrimp on the plate for the jerk pork chop.
It was perfect. I couldn’t believe how big the shrimp was.
For dessert I had carrot cake.
I was tired and decided to forgo the entertainment as dinner went past the early show at 7 pm. I grabbed a ginger ale and ice and toddled off to bed for reading. Lights were out before 9:30.
