One of my sisters (T.) called me not long after we returned from our Italy vacation and mentioned she had booked a cruise but was going solo. I didn’t immediately think of joining her because Steve and I had already booked our next vacation to sail over Thanksgiving on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam.
After we hung up my husband (who isn’t the travel nut I am) offered to bow out of our planned cruise so I could join my sister. I asked her if she was interested in my company and thankfully she said yes and quickly added me to her cabin.
So this November I will sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico for a 10 night Caribbean cruise ending in Galveston, Texas.
Even though this will make my 9th Carnival cruise, there are a few firsts.
1. First time sailing from San Juan. As usual, we’ll be flying in the day before but it was a different exercise finding airfare and hotels for this location. Surprisingly, the airfare was less expensive than my last Florida departure!
2. Chef’s Table. My sister and I have cruised in the past with our parents, other siblings and spouses who all prefer traditional fare. The two of us are more adventuresome with our food selections.
We have confirmed reservations for the Chef’s Table which will be a unique and gourmet experience.
3. Travel Companion. T. and I have cruised several times together as part of a larger family group. This is the first time it’s just the two of us and I’m really looking forward to getting to spend quality time with her.
4. Galveston. I’ve never been to Galveston and although we won’t be staying I’m curious about the port, island and cruise operations in Texas.
Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing more of our trip planning and of course a detailed review once we’re back!
What are you planning for your next vacation?
