It’s Saturday according to the elevator mats and that means we’re at my favorite Caribbean port, Half Moon Cay, and it’s my special birthday!
Birthday Morning
I had put out a room service order last night before going to sleep and it arrived at 6:45 am.
We had coffee, eggs benedict, ham and cheese omelette with croissants. All delivered as requested and tasty as usual.
FYI, I had to write in the eggs benedict and the croissants but since they’re on the regular dining room breakfast menu there wasn’t a problem. My only thought was there could have been more coffee!
Then we got ready for our beach day on half moon cay. I had pre-booked a clam shell but we had no special meeting time or place; it was the same as everyone else which was to meet in the BB Kings Blues Club for tender tickets starting at 8 am.
Everyone in your party had to be there to get their tickets. With two big ships here today (the Koningsdam was here before us) we really wanted to get their earlier for better selection of clam shells.

We left on the second tender called but waited a long time for it to fill up (about 15 minutes?) before heading over to the island. Once there we checked in for the clam shell and they gave us a receipt to give one of the staff (in yellow shirts) when we found the clam shell we wanted to use for the day.
There was an empty clam shell next to the stairs with the famous “wish you were here” sign which we claimed and when the attendant arrived turned over our receipt.

The water was a little cooler than when we were there in November but just as beautiful!
We enjoyed swimming and lounging until getting lunch about 11 am at the BBQ buffet.
It was pretty good and we both finished our meals with ice cream cones.
My plate was not as crowded. 🙂
We continued enjoying the beach until 1 pm.
Then we headed over to the tender area and boarded after waiting in the line to go through security. Eventually, it filled up and we left for the ship.
Birthday Afternoon
On our way to our cabin, we picked up two pastries from the Dutch Cafe (they were out the day before when we went by).
I saved mine for Sunday a.m but Steve had his right away.
We took a nap before getting ready for our evening. I had booked a prepaid reservation for the Pinnacle Grill tonight. We went to the Billboard Onboard and ordered drinks before the happy hour ended.
Before checking into the restaurant I stopped by the gift shop to get the remaining charms for my bracelet.

We were seated at a table for two but not at the window.
The menu has changed since we sailed in November so we tried a couple of different items.
The bread basket included a cheese bread (very good) and a rye bread (not tried).
We then had a chef’s treat of a scallop which was okay (not as good as the lobster foam in November).
My appetizer was the candied bacon which was beautifully presented AND very good.
But it was also very filling. Steve had the shrimp cocktail and it was presented differently as well.
We both had a soup course; me with the mushroom and Steve had lobster bisque. Then I had filet mignon (7 oz) with an upgrade to surf and turf.
The lobster tail was no better than what I had in the dining room the day before which was disappointing.
Steve had the ribeye and had to send it back for a bit more cook as it was medium rare instead of medium.
He had baked potato on the side and I had creamed spinach which was not that good.
We were served candies with our coffee and before getting our desserts.
I had the special dessert I ordered earlier in the week (gf, sf) and it was delicious.
Steve ordered the tres leches cake which wasn’t what he was expecting.
The service had been extremely slow which was disappointing but nevertheless we enjoyed the meal.
Last Evening
We found our room stewards in the hall near our cabin and gave them extra tips. They did a great job!
We returned to the cabin to find this guy waiting along with our voyage log.
It was time to pack and put our bags out. It didn’t take long but wasn’t as organized as when I packed at home!
I put out an order for room service coffee in the morning. We watched some TV before going to bed earlier than usual; tomorrow will be a long day.
