Today is our second and last sea day of the voyage. I was up at 5:30 and quietly got dressed and out the door.
Morning at Sea
Had coffee in the Lido until my brother found me and we decided to have breakfast. I went with ham and cheese omelette which wasn’t quite as good as the first one but still pretty darn good!
After breakfast I went to the crow’s nest for a mocha and scenic reading in one of the comfortable chairs with ottoman.
When I went to leave 90 minutes later, a man at the end made a big deal of moving his legs so I could get through. Some people are just jerks no matter where you are.
I headed to the BB King Blues club for coffee chat which was with the dance company today.
It was interesting as always. The big news was that a new show is coming out this summer. Maybe we’ll see it on the Zuiderdam in July.
Speaking of which I woke up to an email of itinerary changes to the Voyage of the Vikings cruise. In addition to two ports swapping days, Bergen, Norway and Dublin, Ireland were removed and replaced with two stops in Scotland (Lerwick, Shetland Islands and Stornoway).
My next stop today is the Captain’s talk in the show room. The showroom got very crowded and it was an interesting talk.
The modern cruise ship engineering is fascinating (and believe me it’s not something I’d normally be interested in). The captain’s shirt was white but the screen reflection made it appear blue in photos.
Afternoon at Sea
I was ready for lunch after that but getting up to 9 took a while with so many people leaving the same place at the same time and most heading to food. I ran into my brother on the way in the casino.
Eventually got to the Dive In Grill where there was a continual line while there. I ordered a high dive burger (cheeseburger) and naked fries. She sent me to the side where they had some ready to go.
After eating I stopped in the buffet on way to the cabin and found this cupcake that was so good!
Not too sweet.
Our delft tiles were waiting in the cabin with this letter.
I really like the 150th anniversary design.
After a mid afternoon nap, I got ready for tonight’s dressy dress code and headed to the ocean bar for one of the free mariner cocktails.
I really like it but didn’t like these unsalted peanuts but appreciate the gesture.
Evening at Sea
Tonight is the gold gala menu.
We both started with the shrimp cocktail.
I had the sun choke soup which was good but not much to look at.
I didn’t want beef and wasn’t enthralled with any of the other options for entrée so chose the gnocchi.
It was a very small serving. E had the duck breast and enjoyed it.
For dessert I had the warm lava cake. We were both surprised to get this instead.
It was NOT warm and it didn’t have a lava center. It was delicious though! Temperature of food seemed to be an issue today.
The entertainment is rather boring with dance show again so I went to cabin and watched a movie “ A simple wedding”. It’s as good.
Before the buffet closed I went upstairs and got some Asian noodles and chicken with cookies. The MDR servings were a bit TOO small tonight.
Then back to the cabin where I watched “Ideal Home”. Not many steps today: 4,500.
