Instead of flying to San Juan a day early for the Norwegian Epic we are traveling to the airport in order to be close for a very early flight.
Travel Plans
Part of taking advantage of the half price airfare is taking the arrangements made (unless you request deviation early). This meant flying into San Juan, Puerto Rico the day we embark the ship.
My flight arrangements were emailed about 60 days in advance.
I was pleased to have nonstop flights on Southwest which means no baggage fees either. I wasn’t pleased to have to hang around the San Juan airport until 6 pm returning.
My flight to San Juan leaves Orlando at 7:10 am. This is the morning after the clocks leap forward an hour making it seem like 6:10 am.
Because of these factors and that we live over an hour away, I decided to stay at a nearby hotel with free shuttle. Steve is coming with me for the hotel stay and will return home after enjoying the complimentary breakfast Sunday morning.
Alamonte Springs
Travel to Orlando
We left Daytona Beach mid morning as we had a couple of errands on the way in Alamonte Springs. First we went to the NavyFederal credit union to open an account. We also went to Costco for the first time since leaving California last August.
We had lunch at a deli near the credit union named Lawless Subs. Steve had an Italian and I had chicken salad with chipotle Gouda cheese. It was very yummy. Sorry for not taking a picture but the bread was perfectly toasted and not overly bready. Very good meal!
Orlando Evening
Back in the car we set the maps app to the Fairfield Inn Orlando Airport. Checkin was easy and I got a reservation or the 5 am shuttle (thank you TSA Precheck). Breakfast starts at 6 am for Steve but they will give me a bag breakfast with fruit, muffin and water.
We got settled in and relaxed. When I went to charge up my iPad, I found I didn’t bring the right connecting cord. Looked it up in the Walmart app and found they had it at the Walmart less than 3 miles away.
Off we went and on the way we passed Texas Roadhouse and decided that would be our dinner stop instead of Outback.
I found what I needed in the store quickly and off we headed for a cocktail and early dinner.
My drink was the porch rocker and Steve had his usual (jack and coke).
The drinks must have been good because I didn’t take any photos after this. :;
For entrees I went with the ribeye while my better half had prime rib. Our salads and baked potatoes were on the side and very good as well. After our dinner it was a quick return to the hotel and early lights out.
