After a year of planning it was time for my Spain vacation. It’s a siblings cruise (four of us) with three nights pre-cruise in Barcelona. I’ll be referring to my siblings as Sister T, Sister M and Brother.
As usual, I didn’t get a full night’s sleep due to the anticipation. I had a 7 am flight so was up early and after a long line for the self bag tag machines and a quick TSA pre check line, I was through security and ready for breakfast.
I stopped at Peet’s because they give military discounts and I like their lattes.
Boarding was right on time and we actually pulled away from the gate early. Just about every seat was taken but my main cabin extra seat was comfortable. The seat back entertainment was free and I watched two movies during the nonstop flight to Philadelphia.
It was a long walk to my connecting flight to Barcelona. When I got there, I grabbed lunch at Smash Burger.
It was not long before Brother and Sister T joined me after their flight from Los Angeles arrived. (They had a great airfare from LAX.)
The flight started boarding at 6:10 pm and I was glad to be group 4 since overheard space filled up by my seat quickly.
We were delayed 45 minutes. My brother and sister had window seats further back. I had selected an aisle seat in the middle hoping no one would need to get out on my side and that strategy worked well.
Once again just about every seat was taken. My seat mates were a family of 3 who were a pleasure.
Each seat had a pillow and blanket on them when we boarded and attendants passed out free earbuds before we were airborne.
There wasn’t a pre-dinner beverage service; just with dinner service probably due to it being so late. The entree choices were chicken with rice in a lemon sauce or bow tie pasta. I selected the chicken.
It came with salad with dressing, roll and butter (I didn’t eat as the roll was quite hard), crackers and cheese and caramel brownie and a small bottle of water. I had a glass of wine with dinner complimentary.
There was an after dinner beverage service and I took an ambien with that to try to sleep and was successful for a couple of hours.
About 90 minutes before landing a breakfast snack was serviced. It was blueberry yogurt with granola to mix in, a muffin top and a dried fruit mix. I had a couple cups of coffee to clear the sleep from my brain (a bit).
We had a smooth landing and were in Spain!
