Today we’re leaving the Norwegian Escape and heading home. I’m ready!
Escape Disembarkation Morning
When I got up at 5:45, Steve was already gone. I made a cup of in-room coffee and headed upstairs to find him. I couldn’t get onto the internet and was just getting this message.
The ship wasn’t close enough to the shore yet for a cell signal either (I later figured out a workaround by using the browser).
We went to Taste one last time for breakfast when it opened at 6:30 am.
No breakfast specials today. I started with the muesli.
My entree was corned beef hash and eggs again.
Afterwards we went to the cabin to finish packing up and wait until it was time to leave. There are several other ships in port with us.

Carnival Magic and Carnival Mardi Gras are there. We also saw the Jewel of the Seas.
Steve and I cruised on her in Greece. The last ship we were by was the Disney Fantasy.
Unfortunately I didn’t take notes right away so don’t remember the specifics of debarkation.
We were the first tags called off after self-assist and it was much easier getting off than boarding. There was a lot of traffic getting out of the terminal area but once it was our turn to go we had a smooth trip home.
Final Thoughts
The one thing that greatly impacted our trip was the number of passengers. I mistakenly booked this cruise during Easter break time and it was full of families enjoying vacation. Unfortunately, it meant every venue (entertainment, dining, activities, etc.) were overcrowded.
Also lots of parents let their kids run wild. We couldn’t even walk from our cabin to the elevators without dodging kids running in the halls or playing on the staircases. End result, I made a note to myself to only take Holland America is doing a Caribbean sailing for my birthday in the future.
The one thing I don’t like about Norwegian’s larger ships is the limited pool space. I think I’ll try to go on their older, more traditional ships (Jewel class) in warm weather sailings.
We adjusted to these problems and spent more time in the cabin than usual. The Escape is a beautiful ship and I wouldn’t be against sailing her again at a slower time of year.
