Less than three weeks after returning from the Norwegian Epic, I’m leaving on another cruise. This time it’s the Norwegian Escape with my favorite travel partner. Yes it’s my hubby!
We’re celebrating my birthday with a Caribbean cruise embarking from Port Canaveral.
Ship and Cabin
I’ve sailed a number of Norwegian cruises but the last three have all been on the Epic. I’m so ready for another ship and excited to try the first Breakaway plus class ship.
There are more specialty restaurants and I want to try the seafood one for the first time. Originally we were supposed to have my birthday dinner at Le Bistro but then the menu changed (not in a good way) so I am going to try to change the location onboard.
We’re in a balcony cabin on the 10th deck although I don’t have high expectations with the smallish ones on this cruise line.
Ports
The itinerary got switched around a few weeks before sailing.
The seven day sailing has the same four ports but now in a different order.
Great Stirrup Cay
We were here once before when sailing the Norwegian Sun in 2008.
Don’t we look young! We weren’t very impressed with it at that time but I’m hoping it’s greatly improved in the interim. We plan to just enjoy the beach.
St. Thomas
We’ve been to St. Thomas many times. Due to the late arrival here, I’m not sure what we’re going to do. It might just be the day we stay onboard and enjoy an empty ship.
Tortola
We’re taking a ship excursion in Tortola to Cane Garden Bay. I was last here in 2019 with my sister T and loved it! With the shorex credit and discount it cost us $49 total for the two of us.
Taino Bay, Puerto Plata
Taino Bay s is a fairly new port area in the Dominican Republic and first time visit for us. It includes two free pools and one of them is a lazy river. Our plan is to try out the free offerings here and enjoy snacks.
Intangiables
We’re excited to have a “short” drive even though all the ports in Florida are not too far. It’s just 75 minutes to Port Canaveral.
I also appreciate that I have more clothing options available than we did when sailing the Symphony of the Seas in December before our pod was delivered. It should be a wonderful cruise!
