Today Oasis will dock at one of my favorite islands, St. Thomas. We don’t arrive until noon though. It’s a short day for this stop as all aboard is 6:30 pm.
At Sea Morning
When I woke this morning I was surprised to see sunlight through the crack in the drapes. Went for coffee at my usual place and the big decision this morning was where to have breakfast. I decided on park cafe for a ham, egg and cheese muffin sandwich with cup of pineapple.
The rest of the morning I spent reading before going for an early lunch at 11 since I have to be in the theater at 11:45 for my excursion. There were only a couple of options this early so went to El Loco Fresh and had a beef burrito and a pork taco.
Next time I need to have them put toppings on side (he did ask). But both were tasty. Also there’s a freestyle soda machine right there. While eating I watched people enjoying the sports courts and ziplining.
When leaving I enjoyed the beautiful sight of St. Thomas.
St. Thomas Afternoon
I was ready to go and at the theater on time. We sat there for 45 minutes until they called my tour. Then it was hurry up and wait for the taxi. The Celebrity Apex is docked right next to us.
They put 5 people to a bench and there were 3 taxis so 75 people on this tour. There was a lot of traffic and we had the extra distance from Crown Bay so it took another hour before we were at Smith Bay Park. It’s a little beach but lots of natural shade from trees and bushes. There were plenty of chairs and they would help you move them if needed. I found a solo chair in a great shady spot and settled in.
After putting sunscreen on I went in the ocean. It was a great temperature and not rough but there was some rocks/coral to get through as you go in and a small drop-off.
Very nice. The excursion included water, sodas, rum punch or rum/soda. He did have pretzel mix I guess but I didn’t get any. They also had snorkel gear and swim noodles. There was a nice clean bathroom with showers and changing rooms.
All too soon we had to leave. We were only there 90 minutes which was disappointing. We were gathered and then waited another 15-20 minutes for the taxis. The excursion included “scenic drive” and it was but also I’ve seen it before so would rather spend it at the beach.
I would recommend this tour if you’ve never been to St. Thomas but unless they offered it without the scenic drive part, I wouldn’t take it again. Not enough beach time.
Other ships in town were Rotterdam, Carnival Freedom and Norwegian Encore. Of course plus us and the Apex.
Got back to the port shortly after 4 pm and browsed in a few shops before making my way onboard.
St. Thomas Evening
Once onboard it wasn’t long until dinner time.
I started with the seafood cake.
It wasn’t my taste but cooked fine. Then I had a salad substituting ranch for vinaigrette.
My waiter noticed I took the onions off and told me to just let him know next time and they’d make it without. My entrée tonight was chicken parmesan.
It was pretty yummy. I finished with the Mississippi mud pie.
Before going to the theater to see Cats I finished one of the books I brought. On the way to the showroom I stopped at the freestyle machine by Sorrento’s and filled up for the show.
I got to the theater right when it opened so I could find a good sightline. Loved my seat and watched people until the show started at 8 pm.
The show was fantastic with very talented performers. At one point I had to say “shhh” to the ladies behind me who’d talked a lot already but then started giggling over crap they’re telling each other. So rude!
About 45 minutes in, I saw people starting to leave. I was surprised how many left before it was over. They totally ignored the instructions to stay seated at the end until our section was dismissed. The cruise director tried shaming people, it didn’t work.
I was pretty tired at this point so just went back to the cabin for a good night’s sleep. There was a sloth in my bed!
