Today I head to Miami for Sunday’s Oasis of the Seas sailing. This means up by 3 am for 6:20 am flight.
Traveling to Miami
Since it was Saturday there wasn’t any traffic to speak of and the fog we’d had the past few days was absent (yay no flight delays due to that!). I dropped my bag at the Priority check-in and headed to TSA precheck where I had just two people in front of me. Easy peasy. I was at the open food venues five minutes before they opened at 5 am.
It was Jack in the Box today for a sausage croissant combo.
It wasn’t long before boarding. Even though every seat was taken it was an uneventful flight as most people slept. I watched British baking holidays show and “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” on my tablet. That was a weird movie!
There was a decent amount of time to change gates in Dallas. Yesterday I received notice I received an upgrade on this leg to Miami and I loved it. Nice comfortable seats and lunch to boot.
I actually enjoyed it even though the sandwich could have been a bit better. Sorry no pics because I couldn’t reach my phone. I had the pimento and veggie sandwich with a green salad, hummus with vegetables, crackers and a brownie. Yum! Pretty full after that.
Miami and Hotel
Got to Miami right on time and had about a 15 minute wait for luggage. Once it started mine came out quickly and I called the hotel. The shuttle driver called me and said he was two doors down and he’d wait if I walked down. Yes!
The sun was going down as we traveled to the hotel.
For this trip I’m staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami Airport West which was booked using Hilton points. Once at the hotel I was able to get into my room with the digital key bypassing the longish check in line. I still had to go down to lobby for my free bottles of water and to arrange a shuttle to the port tomorrow. I’m on the 11 am shuttle for $12.
The room was comfortable and had everything I needed for a one night stay. I always like the option to watch TV from a couch versus in the bed.
The bed was very comfortable in the open suite design.
I used the kitchen to heat the frozen Stouffers meatloaf meal I bought in the lobby for dinner.
Dessert was the brownie from the airplane lunch and I went to bed early dreaming of a cruise.
