After cancelling our Thanksgiving 2015 cruise so I can sail the Carnival Triumph with my sister, I started looking for the next cruise with Steve.
One of his favorite places on a cruise ship is a forward observation lounge so he can read and enjoy the sea. Cruise lines that we’ve sailed with these lounges are Celebrity and Holland America. Last June I started looking for deals and found an 8 day sailing on the Celebrity Summit which met our criteria.
Our booking for an ocean view cabin came with a beverage package, prepaid gratuities and $100 onboard credit for about $969 per person with taxes and port fees.
After final payment, we were able to upgrade to one of the “sweet sixteen” balconies for $150 more per person. These cabins on the Millenium class are towards the front of the ship and have much larger balconies.
The hardest part has been waiting during the 11 months after booking until sailing. We managed and the day finally came to leave. The next post will detail pre-cruise travel.
