Now that a third of the month has passed I have my 2013 goals ready to share. It was a good exercise to write them down and start planning for success.
I’ll be using the SMART goal setting approach talked about last week. An article I read recently said that willpower is not unlimited which is why people fail when they try to make too many changes That’s why I’m only focusing on two goals this year.
Weight Loss
The goal to lose weight has been on my list for the past several years as you can read here, here and here. Despite the lack of success it’s still a goal this year.
You might wonder why I think this year will be different? It’s because you never know when an attempt you’ve tried many times will finally be successful. But there’s a second reason.
Another sibling was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and that’s two out of four of us. Weight isn’t a factor for him but I don’t want it be for me. I’ve already rejoined Weight Watchers and am going a new day, new time.
GOAL: Lose 40 pounds this year and 15 pounds the first quarter.
Exercise Regularly
It’s been a few years since I regularly exercised and one of the reasons for this blog is to focus on my health. Exercise will help me in that quest.
I’m signed up for a half marathon training program that starts later in January. I’ll be walking the 13.1 mile event in May. I need to figure out the best way to cross train and I’ll be trying various methods. One of them is to use the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred workout.
GOAL: Exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes minimum.
I’ll be sharing weigh in information each week and updating you on exercise monthly. It’s a new year and I’m ready to success this time! Have you made your goals for 2013?
