Do you want to stay on track with your healthy living plan on vacation? You can do it by making conscious choices. This photo is from a rafting excursion in Costa Rica in 2004. Not only did we enjoy the beautiful jungle scenery (and monkeys) but we got some exercise in paddling walking to the drop-in and out points.
This week at Weight Watchers I got some other tips for renovating your vacation to stay on plan. They include:
1. Find a meeting wherever you are. My friend and I plan to attend a meeting while in Savannah later this month.
2. Pack Workout Clothes. I had to skip the gym this week in Atlanta because I forgot a piece of exercise clothing. I compensated with some extra walking as we walked to dinner both nights and back and forth from the train station.
3. Bring Resources. If you have a Eat Out guide, trackers or other resources to keep you on track, pack them!
Food Plan
I had a pretty good week food-wise only going over my target Thursday evening when my company hosted a dinner at Maggiano’s. That was a place where being gluten-free was an advantage because I skipped the bread, bruschetta, lasagna, cake and more!
This was my dinner the first night (filet mignon, sweet potato mash and sauteed Kale) while the guys had salads and …
Krispy Kreme bread pudding. It smelled great and they loved it!
Weigh-In
I skipped weigh-in Saturday morning as I was up three pounds on my scale from water retention. That happens anytime I’m eating restaurant prepared meals for days no matter how healthy the choices.
I don’t want the temporary gain documented so checked in without stepping on the scale.
Challenges Ahead
Today is another travel day as I head to Minneapolis for a meeting and return late Tuesday. I feel confident I can make good choices traveling.
The biggest challenge will be coming home and not having my stock of snacks and meals preplanned. We’ll have to get to the grocery store right after work Wednesday so there are good options.
How did your week towards great health go?
