Today’s the “big game” as advertisers label it to avoid being sued by the NFL. We’re staying home to watch it but have planned a menu around it including adult beverages. 🙂
Highlights
It’s not a highlight but we had to cancel ceiling repairs for this week. After three years of trying to get our ceiling leak resolved we thought the last repair (done last winter) worked. The first couple of winter rains hadn’t resulted in water drips.
Last week we had a bigger storm and the drops hit my husband’s head as he walked from the dining room to the kitchen bringing the realization the problem remained. We cancelled the ceiling drywall repairs scheduled for Tuesday and called the HOA to restrategize. They’re going to try figuring out the leak from the ceiling this time instead of from outside.
Save the dates went out for our youngest son’s wedding. It included a website so I RSVPed (as if there was any doubt). The engagement photos turned out great and I know they’ll be glad to have these later in life.
Yesterday I attended a naughty Valentine’s themed event with a women’s social meetup group I belong to and it was a lot of fun. In addition to the fun products being shown and sold, there were all the fixings to provide a sweet Valentines gift bag to our significant other (or ourselves) including fun cards.
It was a lot of fun despite the drive during the heaviest downpour.

Here are a few of my favorite posts the past couple of weeks.
Women on the Road discusses personal items versus carryon luggage. Also remember medical devices don’t count as either of these (at least in the US).
Since I really enjoy book clubs, this post from Smart Money Mamas on how to start a book club caught my eye.
The Dragons On Fire reveals how to make a hospital stay more manageable. I haven’t been hospitalized since my last baby (over three decades ago) but these are great tips for yourself or loved ones to end up staying overnight.
I’ve added the Marie Kondo Netflix series to my watch list. Financial Samurai discusses how to KonMari your lifestyle and finances.
Girl with the Passport shares 7 themed afternoon teas in London. It’s hard to pick but I’ll have to experience the Harry Potter tea next time I visit this city.
We all know too much sitting is bad for us. That’s why Mark’s Daily Apple‘s list of 13 functional exercises you can do at work makes the list. I’m going to put it on my calendar to take 10 minutes to do these each workday.
Looking Ahead
This week is my first Thursday of the month book club meetup. The book was “meh” but the discussion and meal will be fun. On the weekend I’m going to dinner and movies with the women’s meetup group to see What Men Want.
It should be a fun week and hopefully we’ll figure out the leak! Have a great one.
